Admission Process
 
1. AGE:
FOR 2 YEAR DIPLOMA COURSE
Upto 25 years as on 1st of August.
(relaxable upto 5 years in the case of SC/ST candidates)
FOR OTHER COURSES
Upto 35 years as on 1st of August.
(relaxable upto 5 years in the case of SC/ST candidates)
 
2. QUALIFICATION:
FOR 2 YEAR DIPLOMA COURSE
Minimum : 10+2 pass or Higher Secondary course or equivalent
FOR POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA COURSE
Minimum : Graduate in any discipline
FOR POST DIPLOMA COURSE
Minimum : Diploma in any discipline
FOR CERTIFICATE COURSE
Minimum : 10th Standard Pass.
DESIRABLE:
1. One year practical experience in a running Footwear unit.
(OR)
2. Candidates sponsored by a Registered MSME Footwear manufacturing unit. (Certificate should be obtained in their letter head with SSI Registration No.)
 
3. UNDERTAKING:
An undertaking in the prescribed format (specimen enclosed) should be submitted by the candidate jointly with his/her parent/ guardian, abiding by the rules and regulations of the CFTI, Chennai. at the time of admission along with the application.
 
4. COURSE FEE:
FOR TWO YEAR DIPLOMA COURSE
Rs.50,000/-(Rupees Fifty Thousand Only) payable in two installments First installment of Rs.25,000/- (Twenty Five thousands only) is payable at the time of admission and the second installment of Rs.25,000/-(Twenty Five thousands only) at the beginning of the 2nd Year training in the form of Demand Draft/Banker's Cheque on State Bank of India, Guindy, Chennai 32, in favour of “Director, CFTI, Chennai 600 032”.
NON-REFUNDABLE.
FOR POST GRADUATE AND POST DIPLOMA COURSE
Rs.25,000/-(Rupees Twenty Five Thousand Only) payable at the time of admission in the form of Demand Draft/Banker's Cheque on State Bank of India, Guindy, Chennai 32, in favour of “DIRECTOR, CFTI, CHENNAI 600 032”.
NON REFUNDABLE.
FOR CERTIFICATE COURSE
Rs.16,000/-(Rupees Sixteen Thousand Only) payable at the time of admission in the form of Demand Draft/Banker's Cheque on State Bank of India, Guindy, Chennai 32, in favour of “DIRECTOR, CFTI, CHENNAI 600 032”.
NON-REFUNDABLE
 
5. CAUTION MONEY DEPOSIT:
FOR TWO YEAR DIPLOMA
A sum of Rs.5,000/- (Rupees Five thousands only) in cash shall be paid by each candidate which is refundable at the time of his/her leaving the institute (interest free) on completion of the training course, after recovery of the cost of damages, if any, to the Institute's property by the trainee.
FOR OTHER COURSES
A sum of Rs.2,000/- (Rupees Two thousands only) in cash shall be paid by each candidate which is refundable at the time of his/her leaving the institute (interest free) on completion of the training course, after recovery of the cost of damages, if any, to the Institute's property by the trainee.
 
6. COST OF RAW MATERIALS, CONSUMABLES, COMPONENTS, HANDOUTS ETC.:
FOR TWO YEAR DIPLOMA COURSE
Raw materials, components etc. required for production as per T.I. syllabus (the cost of which comes to Rs.20,000 per candidate,) is payable in two installments of Rs.10,000/- each The first installment of Rs.10,000/- shall be paid by means of Demand Draft in favour of the “Director, CFTI, Chennai”, drawn on SBI, Guindy, Chennai at the time of admission to training. The Second installment of Rs.10,000/- shall be paid at the beginning of the 2nd year by means of Demand draft as mentioned above. The end products shall belong to the trainees concerned.
NON REFUNDABLE.
FOR OTHER COURSES
Raw materials, components etc. required for production (The cost of which comes to Rs.8,000 per candidate) This Amount of Rs 8,000/- shall be paid by means of Demand Draft in favour of the “Director,CFTI,Chennai”, drawn on SBI, Guindy, Chennai at the time of admission to training. The end products shall belong to the trainees concerned.
NON REFUNDABLE.

Moderation fee: The diploma course in footwear design and production is accredited with the international textile institute London. U.K. The activities and performance of the students are moderated twice every year and on confirmatiion with the requirements, diploma is awarded.
Moderation fee of Rs.15000/- is to be paid by each student in two equal installments at the commencement of both the years.
NON REFUNDABLE.

First installments of Rs 7500/- at the time of Admission and the second installment Rs 7500/- at the beginning of second year.
 
7. INTAKE CAPACITY:
The intake capacity of CFTI, Chennai shall be reviewed and decided by the Director of CFTI, Chennai depending on the demand from time to time. The present intake capacity is
Certificate Course in Footwear Technology Course - 120
Post Graduate Diploma in Footwear Technology - 50
Post Diploma in Footwear Technology - 50
Diploma in Footwear Design & Production - 80
 
8. RESERVATION FOR SC/ST CANDIDATES:
22.5% seats are reserved for SC/ST Candidates for which no Tuition fee will be charged subject to production of caste certificate from competent authority at the time of submission of application and at the time of admission (Two Photo copies of caste certificate duly attested by a Gazetted Officer is required to be enclosed along with application).

However, Raw material Fees,. Caution money and Moderation fee have to be paid by the candidate.
 
9. RESERVATION FOR WOMEN CANDIDATES:
10% of seats would be reserved for women candidates. In case of non-availability of suitable Women candidates, the seats would be filled up otherwise by men candidates.
 
10. DISCIPLINE:
During the period of training, candidates should strictly follow the rules and regulations of the Institute.
 
11. LEAVE AND ATTENDANCE:
  • TRAINEES WHO DO NOT POSESS 80% OF ATTENDANCE WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR ISSUE OF CERTIFICATE.
  • For 2 year Diploma Student : There will be 2 weeks holiday after 1st year academic session is over.
 
12. LOSS OR DAMAGE TO INSTITUTE'S PROPERTY:
Trainees who make any loss, misuse or damage to property of the Institute, have to pay the charges to be fixed by the Director at his discretion.
 
13. EXAMINATIONS:
  • Periodical tests and examinations will be conducted to assess the progress of the trainees. If they do not show progress, their cases could be considered for termination of their training.
  • A minimum of 40% marks in each subject is necessary to pass in the examination.
 
14.LIBRARY:
The Institute maintains a well-equipped library where books and periodicals on Footwear Technology and other course related subject books are available for reference. No trainee will however be permitted to take any book or journal outside the institute, without written permission of the Director, CFTI, Chennai.
 
15.TERMINATION OF TRAINING:
Training of individual trainees shall be terminated at any time during the tenure of
the course under the following circumstances :
  • If a trainee does not show interest and progress in his/her training, he she will be given a warning at the end of the first two months, Even if the trainee is not able to show progress in the succeeding two months. his training will be terminated expcept in exceptional cases.
  • Any trainee who abstains from the training for 3 weeks continuously without prior permission is liable to be debarred from training and his training shall be terminated, EXCEPT IN EXCEPTIONAL CASES. like on medical grounds.
  • General good conduct of trainees both within the Institute and outside is one of the important factors of the training. Any trainee who is found guilty in this respect is liable to have his training terminated summarily. The decision of the Director, CFTI, Chennai in this regard shall be FINAL.
  • The Director, CFTI, Chennai may terminate the training of any candidate without assigning any reason whatsoever at any time during the training period.
 
16. UNIT VISIT:
Trainees would be taken on study visit to Footwear/Components manufacturing units located in Tamilnadu and other places. All expenditure in this regard will be borne by the trainees themselves.
 
17. HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION:
Hostel accommodation is available for boys & girls on request, at the sole discretion of the Director, CFTI, Chennai. at the following charges
  • Accommodation (Lodging) Rs.600/- P.M. per head
  • Boarding (Mess charges) Rs.1500/- P.M. per head.
  • The total payable as hostel charges per year is Rs 25200/-
 
18. LOCATION OF THE INSTITUTE:
The institute is located at 65/1, GST Road, Guindy, Chennai 600 032. Candidates who are new to Chennai are advised, after getting down at Chennai Central Station, to take the electric Local train from Chennai Park Station (just opposite to Chennai Central Railway Station, walkable distance) to Guindy Railway Station. From Egmore Railway Station take electric Local train at Egmore, to reach Guindy. This is much easier and convenient. The Training Institue is quite near to Guindy Railway Station (walkable distance) next to State Bank of India and within the campus of MSME Development Institute
 
19. SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION:
